Come Back Yob!

November 11, 2010

In response to an interesting list compiled today in the Toronto Sun, I’ve chosen to compile my own list of interesting alien invasion movies that the Sun’s Kevin Williamson missed.

  • Predator: A vicious alien hunter comes to Earth and duels Arnold in the jungle.
  • The Beast with a Billion Backs: Earth gets attacked by a huge pink thing with genticals. You read that right. Genticals.
  • Coneheads: A family of aliens with conical heads is forced to live on Earth and hide out amongst the Earthlings waiting for their native race to come and retrieve them.
  • Muppets From Space: Turns out, Gonzo is an alien. Who knew? I always thought he was a Muppet.
  • Star Trek IV The Voyage Home: Captain Kirk and his crew must travel back in time to steal a whale from a zoo so that the whale can communicate with an alien probe destroying the Earth.
  • Evolution: Basically, Ghostbusters versus aliens.

Evolution is a classic – the guy from X-Files killing an alien with shampoo!

I hope the list included Mars Attacks!

The newspaper’s list included Mars Attacks.

Yeah, we all know how you “like” Muppets…

That whole “Whale” plotline is one of my most favorites ever…

I love that whole movie. Everything from the whale to the adapting to 20th century Earth to “nuclear wessel.”

Well double dumb ass on you!

Starman is noteably absent, but not a violent one. More of a romance film.

If Gonzo is an alien, what about Cookie Monster, Grover, and Mr. Snuffalupagus? Did they all come from the same planet? If so, I would like to visit that planet.

Cookie Monster is a monster. Grover is also a monster. Snuffalupagus is an elephant like thing.

    Genticals? Sounds kinky!

I liked ST4. My favorite line was the “No, I’m from Iowa, I just work in outer space.” Probably everyone’s favorite line, yeah, I’m not that original.

Everybody’s favourite line from Star Trek IV is “nuclear wessel.”
