I little while ago I started reading a book called “Talking to Girls about Duran Duran.” It started out interesting, but halfway through the book, I realized the author didn’t have a book’s worth of material. Reading the book became tedious and unentertaining.

A couple weeks ago, I picked up another book. “Undisputed” by Chris Jericho (and some real writer to help him string sentences together, most professional wrestlers don’t have English literature degrees*).

I saw the book on the shelf at the book store and picked it up and read a random page. What I read was a backstage view of the wrestling business. I thought that was quite interesting so I bought the book.

Aside from being one man’s view of the unseen world of pro wrestling, it was also a story of one man’s life in wrestling and entertainment as a whole.

And this book is funny. I was laughing uproariously throughout much of the book. Chris has a self-depricating sense of humour in this book. And he’s got a lot of funny tales from the road. But he’s also willing to flex his ego.

The book is a page-turner. Start to finish, I read the book in about two weeks, which is pretty speedy reading for me.

I highly recommend this book for anybody who enjoys a hearty belly laugh and isn’t an anti-wrestling snob.

* The wrestler currently known as Kane has a degree in English literature and has spent time as a teacher. In his mask, he won the WWE episode of the Weakest Link. He may not look it, but he’s a well-read individual. And before he was known as Kane, he was known as the demented dentist, Dr. Isaac Yankem DDS.
