TV Dinner Weekend

May 27, 2013

I have to stop watching the Food Network. It keeps telling me to eat at these restaurants with some pretty awesome food.
Friday I had dinner at Made In Mexico in Newmarket Ontario. I saw this place on You Gotta Eat Here. Refried beans, pork carnitas, burrito. Yummy yum.

My next meal was Saturday breakfast at the Lakeview Restaurant in Toronto. Damn you Triple D! I had toast and an egg with some pancakes and bacon. The food was good and now I can say I’ve been to a place featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives but it’s not worth the effort of a trip to Little Portugal.
In case you haven’t been keeping track: I’ve eaten 5 times at 3 Man v. Food restaurants; 2 You Gotta Eat Here; and 1 Triple D.
To walk off my meals, I went to the AGO and saw the exhibit of Florintine art from the 14th century.
Then I picked up a half-dozen gourmet donuts at Paulette’s. (Had yet to be featured on Donut Showdown.)
On the way home, I stopped at McEwens grocery store (Top Chef Canada judge) and browsed. I didn’t buy anything, this time. The fresh beef wellingtons were calling to me.

I went to Denny’s, I had a bacon maple milkshake, country fried steak and helped Bobette finish her Lumberjack meal (I saw Dennys in my dreams).

And in your toilet after all that made its way through your intestines. I’d hate to follow you into a washroom after that meal.

Sounds delish! I envy those who can eat and not pay the consequences of obesity but sometimes the price is worth the meal.

Why, I’m the fattest thing I’ve ever seen and I’ve been on safari

Had some great ribs last time we ate out, and I made myself a rather good quesadilla the other day too.

You seem to eat around a lot – maybe you should set up a proper food blog?

Used to have one years ago. It’s not as fun as it sounds.

Was that the pre-renaissance art exhibit? I was there on Saturday with my mom. My favourite part was any illustration with flaying or beheading. The blood spurts from headless necks and neckless heads was very engaging.

Yup. Makes you wonder what censorship was like back then.

I envy you going out to eat at all those great places!

But I have to confess, I really don’t miss the food shows on TV all that much. They really do make you hungry, and I can do without all the extra appetite whetting!
