Fingers & Clowns

November 13, 2013

At Yorkdale Mall, in the big department store, The Bay, they got these mannequins in the shoe department. It’s kind of odd to see mannequins in the shoe department. Especially these mannequins. They were only torsos and arms. No feet. It’s the shoe department. Shouldn’t they have feet? Well, they didn’t. What they did have though was hands with fingers, fingers that can be posed.

A perfect opportunity for mischief. I could make them all stick out their middle fingers.

Dangnabbit! Somebody beat me to it.

All of these mannequins were flipping off.

So, even though I has flipped off by a dozen or so mannequins, I was more pissed off by something else.

I walked by the local clown store, otherwise known as Sephora and saw some signage in the window. The sign read “Giftopia, the new merry, gift-giving holiday.”

A “merry, gift-giving holiday,” that sounds familiar to me. Hmm… I could have sworn we already have one of those. Shit. What’s it called? Hang on a second, it’ll come to me.

This corporate attempt to hide the word “Christmas” sickens me. Christmas isn’t for everybody, I get that. But the following facts are true: 1) Christmas is a holiday for everybody, regardless of religion or faith. It’s a day off for everybody. Those who have to work, work for time and a half or more. 2) The year high sales for most consumer goods that happens during November and December is because of Christmas. Lots of people give gifts at Christmas.

Why hide the word Christmas? Is there something wrong with Christmas? It is offensive to non-Christians? I personally have never seen anybody take offense to Christmas.

If I wasn’t so afraid of clowns, I would have marched into Sephora and given them a piece of my mind.

And now for today’s Idiot of the Day.

Take your pick. Either the god-hater at Sephora who thought up this Giftopia bullshit, or the guy at the Bay who beat me to the mannequins.

I had to google Sephora to figure out what a “Clown Store” was.

The people who work there look like clowns.

I vote we call it a draw for IotD. Let ’em do an MMA style fight for the prize. Survivor wins it.

Nah. No holds barred steel cage match.

Don’t you know? Giftopia is November 19th! They invented it because there isn’t a consumer buying event in November already. It’s like “Love Day” from the Simpsons! :P

Giftopia is lamer than Love Day.

Giftopia? Oy, that’s a silly one!

    And clowns are evil.

Wait till they get a load of me…
