Fin-ished

October 26, 2011

Yesterday, Toronto City Council voted to ban shark fin products. Other nearby town councils have already passed similar shark fin bans.

Obviously taxes are low, potholes are a thing of the past, transportation is all done with teleportation pods, civil services are efficient, crime is non-existant, yadda yadda yadda.

Last time I checked, sharks don’t live in Toronto, except possibly at the zoo. Toronto exists beside a body of water. That body is a lake, not a tropical ocean.

Why does city council waste there time with this crap? Nobody in the city is at risk of being attacked by a shark. None of the local sharks are at risk. Oh wait. There aren’t any local sharks. Really? Then why the hell is city council making this an issue.

Apparently, sharks in the wild, nowhere near Toronto, hell nowhere near Canada, are being culled inhumanly for fin harvesting. What do I care about sharks? They don’t give a damn about me. Sharks can defend themselves. They’ve got frickin’ laser beams strapped to their frickin’ heads.

While city council debated and voted on the issue of shark fin products, a live python was found in a toilet bowl in a city apartment.

They just wanted to disinguish themselves from Tokyo, as if they needed any help in doing that.

Yeah, I got confused once. Thought I was in Tokyo. Turns out, downtown Toronto. Never get loaded at the airport, my friend.

Around here the big thing was foie gras. The city banned it…long enough for people to roll their eyes and go somewhere else to get it. When the city realized how stupid it was and how much money they were losing out on, they lifted the ban.

But it sounds like your local council is last in a long line. So bully for them. I, myself, have never had shark fin. I’ve had a shark steak once or twice, which was delicious, but not the fins.

I’ve never had it. Don’t want it. Won’t eat anything that swims.

I think it’s great that they have banned shark fin anything! It’s barbaric, they hack the fin off and leave the shark to die. Doesn’t matter if we have sharks or not we’re participating in their deaths by selling shark fin products.

That’s how sharks treat us. They take one bite then leave us to die.

Are you serious about the last part?

Yup. Actually the second snake found in an apartment on that street this week.

Well of course, a shark fin ban. I’m sure they still have the law on the books that instructs people to snap their fingers to keep the tigers away, too. Isn’t it nice they all have their priorities in line? They are EARNING their salaries! :)

I know how you feel about seafood. I wouldn’t eat hardly any until I was a grown-up. Now I can steam some mean crab legs.

Yup. Priorities. Not like there’s a protest downtown that’s been running for a week and is about to have a huge bonfire started.
